S.S. Danube fonds. 1891-1897.

The fonds consists of the logbook of the Danube which contains five cruise entries with log entries relating to Sitka, Refuge Bay, Pribiloff Islands, Alert Bay, seal slaughters, shooting polar bears, heavy seas and gales, trading with Indians, Russian officials, and American commissioners.

The Canadian rail and steamship SS Danube was originally chartered for a three month cruise to the Bering Sea to deliver 40 tons of supplies to Her Majesty's ships in the Sea during the Bering Sea controversy, a controversy between the United States and Great Britain over sealing rights in the sea.
